Garnacha de Arrayán 2016
Garnacha de Arrayán 2016 is one of the most elegant and Atlantic-influenced expressions of Grenache produced in the mountainous area of Cebreros, one of Spain’s most exciting regions for the variety. Crafted by Bodegas Arrayán, the wine comes from old high-altitude vineyards planted at around 980 meters on slate soils, a combination that brings freshness, tension, and pronounced minerality.
The winemaking approach focuses on preserving vineyard character and fruit purity. Fermentation occurs naturally with around 30% whole clusters, followed by ageing for approximately 14 to 16 months in large French oak vats, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. This ageing process adds complexity and structure while maintaining the delicate and floral nature of the Garnacha grape.
The nose reveals aromas of raspberry, red cherry, blueberries, orange peel, fennel, and wildflowers, alongside subtle mineral and spicy nuances. On the palate, it is silky, vibrant, and beautifully precise, with refined tannins, elegant texture, and a long finish marked by its distinctive mineral character.
Garnacha de Arrayán 2016 offers a refined and contemporary interpretation of high-altitude Garnacha, combining depth, freshness, and elegance in a highly gastronomic wine full of personality.
